Background
As an extension of the PBS Video App, PBS Passport is a special video-on-demand service for PBS station donors/members. With a PBS Passport, a subscription-like streaming service, station members get extended access to shows in the PBS archive and the ability to watch select shows before its broadcast premiere. Launched in 2015, there are now more than 2 million activated members. The service has raised more than $35 million in revenue for PBS stations.
My Role
I served as the General Manager for PBS Passport. Responsibilities included:
Created content distribution and windowing strategies for full episode programming
Developed special content campaigns designed for membership acquisition & retention
Lead efforts with product developers to update and improve the user experience
Oversaw marketing campaigns for the subscription-like streaming service
Served as the main point of contact for senior leadership within the PBS system
Key Results
More than 2-million activated PBS Passport accounts
Raised more than $35-million for PBS stations
75% of PBS Passport users are new PBS station donors
63% of PBS Passport users are sustainer donors for PBS stations
