Background

Native America was a four-part PBS series that challenges everything we thought we knew about the Americas before and since contact with Europe.

My Role

Under my leadership as Senior Director of Multiplatform Content, the team took the web site beyond the standard feature set to include:

  • Blogs by cultural authorities and Native leaders

  • Nearly 45 minutes of extended interviews with academic and cultural experts

  • A “Native Stories” user-generated content campaign supported by local stations

  • An interactive map featuring history and artifacts from various regions of Native America

  • Native Recipes published in collaboration with PBS Food

On social media, we leveraged the rich imagery of the film to create compelling visual content highlighting various aspects of Native cultures, including vocabulary explainers and 60-Second Documentaries.
